About BuildSmart

BuildSmart, the Sustainable Building Education Centre, was established in March 2003 to promote environmentally sustainable housing design and construction.

BuildSmart aims to:

• educate builders in the domestic housing sector and students of building in new and emerging environmentally sustainable approaches to housing design and construction
• provide information to consumers on the principles of environmentally sustainable housing design and construction
• act as a 'one stop shop' for information on environmentally sustainable design, construction and materials to both consumers and industry professionals
• engage the community in activities which promote environmentally friendly design and construction.

BuildSmart is administered by Holmesglen Institute of TAFE, and directed by an Industry Management Committee representing the housing design industry, builders, educators and government organisations associated with promoting environmentally sustainable design and construction practices for the housing sector.
