Design competition

BuildSmart, the Sustainable Building Education Centre, ran a competition open to Australian architects, designers, builders and students of architecture/design, to enter a design competition to promote innovative design and technology in sustainable housing. The objectives of the BuildSmart Sustainable Housing Design Competition were to:

• demonstrate that a comfortable living environment and a reduction in operational costs can be achieved at an affordable cost, using sustainable design that compliments Australian contemporary lifestyle
• demonstrate that sustainable housing is responsive to lifestyle by the use of innovative design and technology
• increase the awareness of sustainable housing issues by promoting the results of the competition.
